Many faces of Asian forests- a photo competition of CIFOR

Image

After the excitement of the European policy-events last week, this Monday morning Southeast Asia gave me inspiration… To be precise the photo competition of the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR).

The organisation accepts photos from anyone, with the aim to display the pictures on the Forests Asia Summit in Jakarta on 5-6 May. The pictures have to be taken in Southeast Asia with forests, forest services, products and/or people on them. (More details here.)

I saw the first photos in the morning and I must admit they really made me realise how vast these areas are with immense possibilities, and huge amount of people dependent on the forests. The photos seem really honest and pure, in my opinion they truly transmit the message of the importance of these habitats. As if I really could have a glimpse of the life of millions of people in 5 minutes… I really recommend to check them out, they awaken countless thoughts and feelings.

Enjoy 🙂
